We value your input.
With v1.0.x, we were able to rebuild the entire OS in a smart way.
We're hoping to gradually increase the amount of software we support in the future.
If you have a software or service you want to use, please post on this forum and let us know what you think.
We'll work on it based on your feedback.
RoonBridge will only need to hit the app command to complete the setup from the next SD image.
If there are a lot of users and they want a simpler setup, a configuration screen can be added to the web UI.
It would be possible to install RoonBridge and turn auto-start on/off from the web UI.
The development of RPi3 Edition (v0.9.6) has been completed.
There are no plans for future enhancements.
When we began development for RPi4, I declared the following
"When the RPi4 version clearly exceeds the sound quality of the old version, we will officially release the RPi4 version and The RPi3 version is no longer in development."
Since RPi3 and RPi4 have very different hardware, more development resources will be required to maintain both versions.
If, in the future, a developer comes along to help maintain the RPi3 version, and we have extra development resources, we can continue to improve the RPi3 version.
The six specifications of the RPi4 that I'm focusing on are as follows.
- LPDDR4 SDRAM (4 times more bandwidth than LPDDR2 Pi3)
- Enhanced CPU cache.
- 2 to 3 times the integer processing performance of the Pi3
- A 54 MHz oscillator is used to control the Xenomai thread/RTDM driver with 18 nanosecond precision.
- Equipped with an interrupt controller GIC400.
- Built-in Ethernet receiver (BCM54213PE) independent of USB
v1.0.3 (RPi4) has the same arm_freq as v0.9.6 (RPi3), and However, the real time performance is about three to four times better than the previous model.
